As you search through the web and YouTube trying to find guitar websites you'll inevitably come across fantastic claims such as Learn Guitar Fast! or Learn Guitar in Just 30 days! So what's the real story?
Well certainly there are still some old fashioned methods out there which I wouldnt advise you to learn from. In recent years however new and more modern methods to learn guitar quickly have been developed and they far exceed the older styles of learning.
To this end it's obvious that the newer methods for learning guitar are indeed improvements on previous systems and achieve quicker results.
That's welcome news but you should read the rest of their sales pitch carefully and I'll tell you why...
In a nutshell, everyone has their own unique rate of improvement on guitar no matter what instruction you do! Sure the 'learn guitar fast' method is super important but it can never over ride your own inbuilt speed for picking up the instrument.
We refer to this as your aptitude for learning guitar, how fast your mind can pick it up and it's unique to each and every student. You see with learning guitar, it's all relative.
What you must understand is that even if you are taking the best acoustic guitar course, your rate of improvement could still be slower than someone with a more natural ability to pick up the instrument than you. There are no miracle methods out there to even the playing field completely.
You should never become depressed over your natural rate of improvement on guitar. Learning guitar is not a race and all learn guitar fast methods are not universal. They will ensure however that your rate of improvement is the maximum possible for you.
And hey, is it really that important? Ultimately we all end up being able to do the same thing with our chords and strums regardless of our musical aptitude right? So what's really important?
You must choose a course of acoustic guitar lessons which really understands how beginners learn. By selecting a bad guitar method you could potentially hold up your improvement for months, get frustrated, think you have no talent and give up.
It would be a shame for you to feel you had no ability on guitar when in fact the fault lies not with you but instead with the out of date teaching method. There's no learning guitar with a bad method.
So can you learn guitar fast? Absolutely, but remember to choose your course well and accept your natural aptitude for the instrument.
