Learn Acoustic Guitar
Now days if you wish to learn acoustic guitar you'll find many sites on the web offering instruction and guidance. Above all else, the question most asked is how long will it take me to learn acoustic guitar? Actually, there are three very important aspects which will decide the answer... What is your natural aptitude for learning guitar? Is the instructional method you're using of high quality? How often do you practice? We'll examine question one first. You, as every person, were born with a unique learning rate for guitar. This means that you have a maximum improvement rate built in and it varies for every possible thing you could learn. Until you start to learn acoustic guitar you won't actually know if you have a high, average or slow learning rate for the instrument! The instructional method you use is extremely important as not all methods are equal. If you choose, for example, an out of date and old fashioned method it could slow your progress considerably, even to the point where you will want to give up. Now days there are modern and new ways available to accelerate the time it takes to learn acoustic guitar. Make sure you are using one of those newer and more modern methods. I'm sure everyone knows that nothing gets perfected without practice. When you learn guitar you must do a little bit of daily practice, say 15 - 20min. Your improvement rate is decided by the consistency and regularity of practice so don't neglect it. Learning the shapes of the chords and the strumming rhythms is not difficult, in fact you only need a small selection of chords (about 10) and strums (about 3) to play lots of the songs you hear everyday on the radio or in your CD/MP3 library. To learn acoustic guitar, a basic set of strums and chords will normally take 4 weeks assuming your of average ability for the instrument. You should be starting to play your first songs by that time. For some, being able to strum along to favourite songs will be enough but obviously some will want to progress more and more into advanced techniques. In the early stages of guitar lessons for beginners you will find certain aspects of playing quite difficult, even impossible! But even the most accomplished players once started as complete beginners and with time every obstacle now will eventually become effortless. The old adage of practice makes perfect was probably thought of with musical instruments in mind. The key is keeping your motivation to continue acoustic guitar lessons over the long term and to continue doing it with a constant sense of enjoyment.
